Lucía is a sociologist and holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Leiden, Netherlands. She has worked in academic institutions in the United States, Argentina, and Chile, and for different programs of the United Nations, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the World Bank.
From 2015 to 2016 she was Head of the Studies Division at the Under secretariat of the Interior in the Ministry of Interior and Public Security of Chile, and has also worked as a consultant to the Argentinian and Mexican governments.
She has published several articles and books on community participation, citizen safety, social conflict and urban issues in national and international journals. She is currently an associate professor at the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Santiago Chile and a columnist for Cooperativa, The Clinic and radio La Clave.
