Holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Notre Dame and a B.A. in Physics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Currently, he is the Director of the Collective Learning Center of the Institute of Artificial and Natural Intelligence (ANITI) at the Université de Toulouse.
Before starting the group at MIT he worked at the faculty of Government at Harvard University. Hidalgo’s work focuses on complexities and collective learning, with emphasis on countries’ economic and cultural development processes. At his MIT group he develops visual tools and data analysis to facilitate information both within and between organizations.
